I have neglected this blog for a very long time and for that I am sorry, but I just didn't know what to say. I can't really say that I know what to say now but I feel the need to update this blog more than once a year. I should be posting once a week now.
What are we going to be talking about... well EVERYTHING. Mostly art stuff but nothing will be off limits on this blog. This is going to be where you will be able to get to know me a bit better. There is going to be a lot of behind the scenes information and pictures.
With that said I want to start with HANDS.
Let me tell you I suck and drawing hands. I don't know what it is but they are just so hard for me. I keep seeing other artist and Twitch streamers talk about it's simple. They refer to a pack of hot dogs and when they show it, it looks great and when I try the pack of hot dogs it just looks like poop. Well, I've decided to make a conscious effort to draw hands better. I plan on doing a lot of life drawing for hands. I am starting to believe that I just need to put in some more mileage behind my pencil when it comes to drawing hands, and yes FEET will be next because I suck at those as well.
Here are some examples of the drawings and sketches I have done over the past few days.
The purple hands are the most recent. As you can see they are getting better but still. I have a long way to go. Another thing that I noticed is that there are a lot of how to draw hand tutorials all over the place but they really only go into the construction of a hand which is great until you need to render them out or make them stylized. Not only do I want to try and perfect the construction but I really also want to be able to stylize my hands so that when it comes time to draw my comics they will look like they fit into the world.
One last thing that I will start working on is fingernails. For those of you who know my work will know that I don't really draw fingernails on my characters. For some reason they just look strange to me so I don't draw them. I know, I know it doesn't make sense, that is why I am going to start trying to put those into my drawings.
I will post my hand drawings from time to time just to keep you all updated on my progress.
I think that this is a long enough post so I will see you at the next post.
Kaiser.
