What happened to the Monday Meeting posts?

Hello Everyone.

To answer my own question, since I posted the first Monday meeting post I didn't have any Monday meetings. It was rather funny. School is going to be starting back up on the 7th of January. Since it is the first week of the quarter I don't think we are going to have a meeting on that Monday but the next week we will. So that means that Monday meeting notes will start over again on the 14ht of January.

Here is something completely different. Dark Legacy: The Rising was released in the New York Comic Con in November. Since then well nothing much has happened in terms of marketing or promotion because I was waiting until the new year. Starting in January you will be seeing a lot more post on Facebook, Twitter (@ksp_darklegacy) and the this blog about Dark Legacy. I am supper excited about this product. I can't wait to go on tour with it. The first big convention Dark Legacy will be at is Megacon in Orlando Florida March 14-16th. It is going to be fantastic. I have a lot of exclusives that I am going to be giving away. If you can make it to Florida come find me. I will be battling with Magic the Gathering in the gaming section.

Even though I haven't don't any true marketing and promotion, some of my students got wind of this game and bought some of the decks and started playing. Since that day it has started to spread like wildfire. I was very ecstatic to see people playing the game even though I didn't set it up. It made me think that I have something good going on here. Because of that I decided to host the first ever Dark Legacy Tournament.

It was very short notice but there were 11 participates at this Tournament and a few other people told me that they would have been there but because of the short notice they missed it. Oh well I will have to get them on the next one. But, even though it was short notice the tournament lasted for eight hours. It was a fantastic event. I would like to thank everyone who participated in this event. For those of you who were wondering if there were prizes for the top players...yes there were. Some pretty good ones if I might add. If you want to know what they were come to the next tournament and ask me. I will be more than happy to tell you.

How about some pictures.

Akasha was the only girl to be at the tournament and she was kick a lot of butt there.

Another well stocked playing mat.

Leo was the first person to win the this tournament and he did it in only 30 minutes. That is 15 minutes shorter an average game of Dark Legacy.

This is the current official standing of players in the Dark Legacy universe. Hopefully soon we will have new people who are going to be on this board.

So there you go. A nice little update on the newest creation from Kaiser Studio Productions. Only time will tell where we go from here. Thank you for being part of the journey. See you in 2013 or maybe sooner. Either way have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Monday Meeting Notes

Hello Everyone.

As I promised here is the Monday Meeting Notes from today. I sit and doodle in every meeting to ensure that I pay attention. If I don't my mind wanders and I don't really pay attention. Thought it would be interesting to show people what doodles actually come out of my meetings.

There is no reason or rhyme behind these drawings. I just put the pencil or the pen to paper and this is what came out. Enjoy.

Make sure to come back next monday to see what will be produced during next Monday's meeting.
Thanks for looking

Getting close to Thanksgiving

Hello Everyone,

I thought it would be great to update before Thanksgiving. I want to be more active on the web but I am really have a rough time with that. You would think that I would be better at this but hey what can I say.

Well I do have a plan. I don't know why I didn't do this before but I am going to start doing it now. At work I have a long meeting every Monday and I draw at them all the time. I know what you are thinking: "He isn't paying attention". That isn't true. If I don't draw then my mind starts to wonder so this is how I pay attention. So, I thought that you might be interested in see what comes out of my pen when I am at those meetings. Starting next Monday I am going to be starting Monday Meeting Drawing posts. Be on the look out for that.

In other news, I finished up the Marvel Premiere and Beginnings 3 set. I post images of the Premiere set over on my Facebook page. I am not allowed to post the Beginnings set yet. As soon as I can I will. I am going to be working with MNS toys on some Universal monsters sketch cards. I am really looking forward to doing something beyond Marvel. I never thought I would say something like that. I really like Marvel comics' characters but after four sets of 100 or more cards I can use a break.

One last thing about sketch cards. I am doing an audition to be part of the Walking Dead card set. Man that would be great. I never worked with Cryptazoic and I would really like to work with them. So keep your fingers crossed for me and wish me luck.

Now I guess you would like to see some art. Here you go.

This is a page that Elvin Hernandez and I did for a potential client. It was a test page and everything was done traditional. Pencil, Ink and Markers. This was the first time that we did an all traditional page. The potential client didn't like it so we moved on. I really like the way the page came out. Elvin agrees. I don't really know what they didn't like. The never contacted me back. So now you get to see the fruits of our labor. Hope you like it.

This is the cover that Elvin Hernandez and I did for a submission for G.I.Joe at IDW. We did a couple of pages for this submission and a cover. This cover was done all traditional. Pencil, Ink and Marker. We seemed to get some really good responses from the editors at IDW but we haven't landed work yet. I like the amount of people and details that Elvin put into this cover. Then again on the other hand I had to marker it and man it took a lot longer than I thought it was going to take, but the end result was well worth it. Let me know what you think.

I think that that is enough for today. I hope that you enjoy the art here. If you have any comments or questions please don't hesitate to contact me.

Have a wonderful and a blessed and safe Thanksgiving.

Kaiser.

Kaiser's weekly update.

Hello Everyone,

I have been away for a bit trying to ensure that the Dark Legacy game gets out as soon as possible. I have been hitting some speed bumps along the way, but I think that I am coming to the end of that road and the game is going to be released at the New York Comic Con on October 11th.

Now that that is over my wife told me that I have neglected my blog for long enough. She told me that she is going to give me a throwback of the week to make sure that I have something to post every week. That was too weeks ago. The first week was the Jetsons and well the quality control of my wife didn't like what I drew. She said it wasn't up to my standards and it didn't count.

Here we are on the second week and she gave me a character that I didn't even know. I was given Chilly Willy. I needed to do some research before I was able even start drawing. This is what I came up with.
This drawing was done on 9x12 with Micron pens and Prisma Color Markers. It took about two hours to do. I like the way it came out. Nothing to exciting. I took the main image from the show and re-drew it. It was a nice warm up for my studio night on Friday.

I am also getting ready for the New York Comic Con and it seems like there is a really big market for Sketch Covers. I have to admit that I don't really like doing them because they are not of a good enough quality paper. It doesn't allow me to do the streak free markering that I like doing. So I can't really do markers on it. But, what I can do is this.

Last Friday I started writing the graphic novel for Dark Legacy. I will be be posting pages as soon as I get them done. I should have a lot of art within the next couple of weeks. This blog is going to be updated a lot, so be sure to keep coming back.

I would love to hear what you have to say about any of my art. Thank you very much
Kaiser.

Dark Legacy give away.

Hello Everyone,

The game of Dark Legacy: The Rising is going to be coming out soon. The expected release date is going to be October 11th at the New York Comic Con. In anticipation of that release I wanted to stir up some interest before I got there and wanted to have a little bit of a give away. Here are the specifics.

I would like to have 250 likes on the Dark Legacy Facebook page before I go to the New York Comic con. Once the Facebook page reaches 250 likes I will be giving away all six of the starter decks along with the mats and rule book that would go with it to one lucky winner. In addition to that I will be giving out 10 booster pack to 10 different people.

So how do you tip the scale in your favor you ask, simple. Like the Facebook page and then send people over to like it as well. You have to have them comment on the wall that you were the one that sent them to like the page and your name will be entered into the drawing again. The more people that you get to like the page and say that you were the reason that they came over to like the page the more chances you have to win. See simple.

Here is the Facebook page

Just in case you don't know about Dark Legacy, here is a link to the official website.

Week 12 and 13

Hello Everyone,

I know that I didn't do the last update that I said I would. I know that it has been a couple of weeks after the due date but I have been dealing with printers ever since the 90 day challenge was over. I thought I had everything taken care of but it seems that prices change A LOT since the initial quote.

I got hit with a price that was double. DOUBLE! So I was trying really hard to find another printer which wasn't as easy as I thought it was going to be. Although I was able to find a local print shop by accident and well everything is going to work out. I now have a local printer that prints in the USA and comes in at the cost that I was quoted from the first printer.

With that all said I should have all the cards printed and at my house by the end of the week. I would like to thank everyone who was following my progress with the 90 day challenge. I might just do another one.

Before we get to the final images I just wanted to say that in the last two weeks I really was in the zone. I was able to finish 27 cards. That's right 27 cards. I was able to learn a couple of things during those last two weeks. I realized that I didn't really need to draw all the cards full size. That help a hole lot. Well I just want to let you know that I was able to really kick but on the last stretch of the challenge.

This is the antidote card. It clears the Hero of all the poison counters.

This is one of my favorite cards. This was drawn by Elvin Hernandez. It is the Barbarian King. I think that this one really came out the way I envisioned it.

This is the counter spell card. It can be used by everyone one. It is a general card so it can be used by every player. This is a very useful card. So you, yes you, should have this in your deck.

This is the Darkness Knight. I couldn't call it the Dark Knight because well... I didn't want to get sued. This is another piece drawn by Elvin Hernandez. What can I say the guy is good.

This is the D.I.P. watch. This card allows you to start the game over. It is a really mean card but Francisco Martinez and I came up with this watch way before I even thought about making this into Dark Legacy. So Cisco I told you it would be in the game.

This card is know as Earth Spikes. Don't really know what else to tell you about that.

Fighting spirit. This card gives you creatures a bit of a boost. I didn't really know what to draw for this one but then one day it just came too me. I think he might have too many arrows in him.

This is the fire shield. Nothing too crazy. This is one of the first armors that you are allowed to have at the begining of the game.

Giant Bats is another card illustrated by Elvin Hernandez and colored by me

This is the Hand of Power. It is an enhancement card that gives you a bigger punch and well when you have the Hand of Faith you get to give yourself life points every time you do damage.

This one was a bit of a pain in the butt because there are a lot of little things that needed to be colored sepereatly but in the end I think it came out pretty good.

This is the heavy armor for Chaos. I have to say that the armors were the ones that gave me problems. I tried to give them each their own look and still make them a bit practical as well. I am looking foward to when I just get to make armors that don't make sense but look really cool.

This is the heave Tech armor.

This is the heavy Wind armor

The Helmet of knowledge. This card allows you to look at the next couple of cards and put them in a order that will benefit you in the future. It's just a helmet. I didn't go crazy with it.

This card is the Holy Warrior. I really like the way this one looks. He seems as though he is pure and on the good side, which he is, but then he is armed like someone that will fight to the death to defend those who need to be defended.

One thing that I like about this game is that the world is so large that you can be part of a faction and not look like the main person in the faction. That just allows for a lot of exploration. I love it.

This is the Keeper of Souls. This is one of the strongest creatures in the game. Well it has the potential to be the strongest in the game. It gets stronger everytime a creature lands in the Boneyard. In any Boneyard. So the more that get destroyed the stronger this guy gets.

You are going to want to get your hands on this card.

Laser eyes. It deals a couple of points of damage. I was going to go in a differnt way, with the person already shooting the laser beam but I thought that was going to be too much like Cyclops from the X-Men

This is the medium light Wind Armor.

This is the medium Chaos armor.

This is the medium Tech armor.

This is the medium Wind armor.

This is the Mystery box. This card allows you do take two of your cards and two of the opponents cards and shuffle them up and then your opponent gets to choose which two cards get to go into the Boneyard.

It is a gamble but in the end if might be to your benefit to use the card.

This card is called Role Switch. It is one of the 13 Uber rare cards in the game. This card was fun to do because it is very simple but I think still pretty effective.

The card allows you to switch everything with your opponent. You then have two turns to win otherwise you opponent wins.

This is a Tornado card. It destroys stuff. I was told that once this card was done that a studio mate of mine doesn't want to live on the planet of Titan because there are just too many things that could kill him. I laughed and said you just have to watch out for the giant Tornado and you should be fine.

Virus... It took forever to come up with this card. I just didn't know what to draw. How do you draw a virus, was the main thought in mind. Then I just went with the idea of a computer virus.

One intersting tide bit about this card is that it is the only card or illustration for that matter that I did totally digitally.

This is the Vortex card. All I can say is get out of the way. Otherwise you are going to get sucked in.

This is the Wind Spike card. Now this card doesn't pack that much of a punch but you really wouldn't know that if you were to only look at the card. I realized that I make the cards look a lot stronger than they actually are. I don't know if that is a good or a bad thing.

There you go. That is the end of the 90 day challenge. I hope you had fun and thanks for all the support. You all rock.

As allways all comments and critiques are welcome.
See you next time

week 11

I really dropped the ball on posting this week. I am in such a mad rush to finish all the cards by the end of the month. I have 14 days left in this month to get everything done. So I am going to post one last post at the end of the month. I am going to surprise you with how much work I complete in the last two weeks. So I am sorry you will not get an update next week but the week after that you will have a lot of work to look at. I hope you can forgive me for that.

Here is the update for last week.

Now this is a drawing by Enrique Rivera. He did the card Pegasus Rider. Well I needed a card of just a Pegasus and with the time crunch I just edited out the rider flipped the picture and changed the color. So I know that I didn't draw this one but I did have to do some work to it so I am counting it.

This is Blizzard. I wanted you to think why is this person even out in that weather. I hope that that comes across. I think that I was able to give that feeling. I know that I wouldn't want to be out there in that snow so...

This is the Brute. This card was drawn by Elvin Hernandez and colored by me. This one has a lot of power in the drawing. I tried keeping the top of the card open because Elvin likes to put a lot of detail in his work and I firmly believe that the eye needs a place to rest in order to enjoy the image.

This is one of the Holy Order Members. There are many different cultures within the Holy Order faction. This is a fighter from the Eastern area. Modern and flashy but still in line with the beliefs of Hope and her Holy Order. This one was done in marker.

This is my power boost card. I couldn't really think of anything stronger than lifting a really really big rock.

Ah yes the Stechnoids. These are the mosquitoes of Titan. They are little only about an inch and a half big but they are very annoying and well they bit. Stechnoids never travel alone. If there is one there are 100.

This is a wolf. There has to be somethings that people can relate to. Then was they are hooked the story gets rid of everything that they can find on Earth.

There you go. There's the update. Hope you liked it.
Make sure to come back in two weeks to see the rest of the cards.
